This past week has seen us country fans being treated to some great new music from the likes of Maren Morris, and Levi Hummon. And here we bring you reviews of the top 5 single releases this week.


1: Levi Hummon – Stupid

Fast rising country/pop heartthrob Levi Hummon is ready to set more hearts aflutter with the release of his brand new single ‘Stupid’. The guitar heavy track is steeped in classic country vibes and is overlay-ed with catchy pop hooks and choruses making for a real toe-tapping, sing-a-long banger. The new single from Hummon is a real standout from one of the hottest new talents coming through and it really puts him on the map as the next big thing.


2: Maren Morris ft Vince Gill – Dear Hate

Following the heinous hate-filled shooting in Las Vegas that claimed over 40 innocent lives, country superstar Maren Morris decided to release the stunning, thought provoking single ‘Dear Hate’. The poignant track which features gorgeous vocals from Vince Gill couldn’t have been released at a better time and it helps to heal some of those wounds we are all suffering from in these current times. It is a simple, beautiful, song and is an instant classic. Maren’s best release to date.


3: Binky – Fireflies

With country music now officially the fastest growing genre in Britain we are seeing more and more UK talent coming through. Most recently we have Binky, who first found fame several years ago as the host of Sky’s The Smith & Rogers Country Show. The British singer’s debut single ‘Fireflies’ has a sound of all its own as Binky merges the classic Nashville country sound with the UK’s urban pop style making for a real ear-worm. The rising star is definitely one to keep an eye out for.


4: Carly Pearce – Hide The Wine

Carly Pearce is a rising country singer from the US and she is currently gearing up for the release of her eagerly anticipated debut album ‘Every Little Thing’ which will be released worldwide on October 13th. And this week she gave listeners a taste of what is to come from the record by releasing the single ‘Hide The Wine’. The track is a really catchy song that has shades of old-school Shania Twain, mixed with The Shires’ modern country/pop sound. It’s a really great single that highlights the immense talent Pearce has in her locker.


5: Jessie James Decker – Pretty Girl

US singer Jessie James Decker returns with her brilliant new single ‘Pretty Girl’. The pop heavy track is perfect for crossover success while still keeping its roots in the country genre with great storytelling lyrics. Decker’s vocal ability is clear for everyone to hear, but with her new release she also proves that she has fantastic songwriting ability to go along with her cracking vocal talent. ‘Pretty Girl’ is a real standout from Jessie, and it really puts her on the map as a true country success.
