This past week has seen us country fans being treated to some great new music from the likes of Jameson Rodgers, Melanie Greggain, and more. And here we bring you reviews of the top 5 single releases this week.
1: Missing One – Jameson Rodgers
Fast rising country star Jameson Rodgers is back with new single ‘Missing One’. The track has lots of guitar and a heavy country music vibe with very little pop influence. Rodgers’ voice is strong and clear and he really brings this gorgeous song to life. ‘Missing One’ is a fantastic country single that has lots of old-school vibes while still managing to sound contemporary. It will no doubt be loved by radio listeners across the world and has all the ingredients needed to be a chart hit.
2: Ready to Run – Melanie Greggain
After finding success as one half of the multi award winning country music duo Luke and Mel, Greggain has now launched her solo career with the release of debut single ‘Ready to Run’. The track has already been a big hit in Mel’s native UK home topping the Official i-Tunes Country Chart and there’s little wonder why fans are loving this track. Mel Greggain has a beautiful voice and this gorgeous ballad has a wonderful production that make the catchy lyrics come to life. ‘Ready to Run’ is a real standout and it puts Mel on the map as the next big thing.
3: O Holy Night – Luke Bryan
With Christmas 2017 just around the corner it seems fitting for me to include a festive track in my countdown this week. And what with country star Luke Bryan releasing his cover of the classic ‘O Holy Night’ earlier this month I just had to include it. While it is not my favourite version of one of my all time favourite Christmas songs, Bryan still manages to a great job and he really makes it his own. His voice has a soothing tone and he brings some magic the holiday classic.
4: Take A Chance On You – Kaylin Roberson
Up until this week I had not heard of Kaylin Roberson but now I have listened to this track I have to admit she has a really gorgeous voice and she certainly has the potential to become a major crossover success if ‘Take A Chance On You’ is anything to go by. With its country lyrics, and pop production it has all the ingredients needed to become a major global chart hit and mixed with Roberson’s classy, cool image young, and old fans alike will fall in love with her music. This single is a real belter and it just makes you want to hear more.
5: Thought It Was Gonna Be Me – Catherine McGrath
Catherine McGrath is fast becoming one of the most exciting and successful country artists around and with releases as good as this she is only going to become more globally recognised as time goes on. ‘Thought It Was Gonna Be Me’ has shades of old-school country Taylor Swift before she turned to pure pop which is such a great thing. I used to love Swift when she was releasing quality country/pop tracks. And there is a void that needs filling and with this brilliant toe-tapping country/pop gem, McGrath is doing a great job of filling it. Radio will love this single and they will show it a lot of support meaning that it could become Catherine’s biggest hit to date.
